Gameplay
The gameplay of clash of clans can be divided into 3 main parts ie Base Building and Attacking and Clan activities
Base Building
Base building is a cornerstone of gameplay, requiring strategic planning and meticulous design. Players meticulously arrange buildings, traps, and defensive structures to fortify their village against potential attacks from other players. Each element of the base serves a specific purpose, from resource collectors to defensive towers and walls, all strategically placed to thwart enemy raids. Balancing the layout is crucial, as players must consider both offensive and defensive capabilities, ensuring that defenses are positioned to protect vital structures while maximizing offensive potential. Base design evolves as players unlock new buildings and upgrades, allowing for greater customization and optimization. With each upgrade, players enhance their village's resilience and offensive power, creating an ever-evolving fortress ready to repel invaders and secure valuable resources.

Attacking
Attacking is a dynamic and thrilling aspect of gameplay that requires strategic thinking, precise timing, and adaptability. Before launching an attack, players meticulously scout their target village, assessing its layout, defensive structures, and potential weak points. Understanding the opponent's base design is crucial for devising an effective strategy, as it allows players to exploit vulnerabilities and optimize their approach. During the attack, players must make split-second decisions, deploying troops and spells strategically to overcome enemy defenses and achieve their objectives. Timing is key, as deploying troops too early or too late can spell disaster. As the attack unfolds, players must remain vigilant, adjusting their tactics on the fly to respond to unexpected defensive reinforcements or traps. Communication and coordination are also essential, especially in clan wars, where teamwork can make the difference between victory and defeat. Ultimately, successful attacks in Clash of Clans require a combination of strategic planning, precise execution, and quick thinking under pressure, making each battle an exhilarating test of skill and cunning.
Some of the most popular army comps are listed below:
- GoWiPe (Golem, Wizard, P.E.K.K.A.): This strategy relies on powerful ground troops to punch through enemy defenses. Players typically deploy Golems as tanks to soak up damage while Wizards provide ranged support and P.E.K.K.As deal massive damage to structure
- LavaLoon (Lava Hounds, Balloons): This air-based strategy involves deploying Lava Hounds as tanks to soak up damage from air defenses while Balloons target defensive structures. Minions or other supporting troops may also be used to clear away distractions.
- DragLoon (Dragons, Balloons): Another air-based strategy, DragLoon utilizes Dragons as main attackers, backed up by Balloons to target specific defenses. Dragons create a path by destroying outer structures while Balloons target defenses and other high-value targets.
- Mass Hog Riders: This strategy relies on mass deployment of Hog Riders, usually accompanied by Healing Spells and possibly Rage Spells. Hog Riders target defensive buildings, particularly those that target them, while spells help them survive and deal damage faster.
- Queen Walk + Miner or Bowler: This strategy involves using the Archer Queen to "walk" around the base, supported by Healers to sustain her. Meanwhile, Miners or Bowlers are deployed to exploit the path cleared by the Queen and take down key defensive structures.
- Witch Slap (Witches, Healers): This strategy utilizes Witches as the primary damage dealers, supported by Healers to keep them alive. The mass of spawned skeletons serves as a distraction while the Witches and supporting troops take down defenses.
- Queen Charge + lalo: This strategy involes the using the Archer Queen but instead of making her "walk" around the base we "charge" her right into the core of the base to take out major defenses while being supported by healers, rage spells may be dropped to increase the healing rate of those healers and keep her alive. It is then followed by lavahounds which act as a tank for the balloons to target and finish off the remaining defenses.

Clan Wars:
Clan Wars are a hallmark feature of Clash of Clans, offering clans the opportunity to engage in strategic battles against one another. Prior to the war's commencement, clan leaders and co-leaders can opt-in clan members who wish to participate. Once matched with an opposing clan, the war begins, and each clan member is tasked with two primary responsibilities: building and defending their own base and launching attacks against the enemy bases. Bases are designed to withstand enemy assaults by strategically placing defensive structures such as cannons, archer towers, and traps. Meanwhile, attacks are meticulously planned, with players devising army compositions and selecting appropriate spells to maximize their chances of success. Successful attacks earn stars based on the destruction caused, and the clan with the most stars at the end of the war emerges victorious. Clan Wars not only test players' strategic prowess but also promote teamwork and communication as clan members collaborate to achieve victory. |

Clans are placed into leagues based on their skill level, with each league comprising multiple clans of similar strength. Throughout the week, clans battle against one another in a round-robin format, with each clan member given a single attack to execute against an opponent's base. Attacks are staggered over several days, adding an element of strategy as clans must adapt their approach based on the outcomes of previous attacks. At the end of the league season, clans are rewarded based on their performance, with league medals being awarded to all participants. These league medals can be used to purchase exclusive rewards from the league shop, including powerful magic items and decorations for the clan's base. Clan War Leagues provide a high-stakes environment for clans to showcase their skills and compete for prestige and rewards.
